CLUBS

Yearbook, Varsity Club, Art Club

As going into high school, one has the choice to participate in clubs. A wide variety of clubs are offered at Dakota, and I decided to join a few of them such as yearbook, art club, and varsity club. Even though I wasn’t a part of these clubs for all four years of high school, I have enjoyed my time that I have participated in them. Being part of extracurricular organizations helps one make new friends, be more a part of their school, and teach people important life skills. I never held an official position in any of these clubs, but that didn’t stop my participation in them. I still helped think of ideas and plan events if needed.

Being in yearbook, art club, and varsity club has taught me communication, time management, and organizational skills that will be beneficial for my future.  In all these clubs, time management was an important skill to have because if I had to meet a deadline for a page in yearbook, a project in art club, or a sale in varsity club, I was required to meet it on time. Also, organization was a key skill to have because I had to balance my school work, sports, and club responsibilty all together. Lastly, the biggest skill that I have learned from being in clubs is communication. In order for things to get done, one had to talk to other members to decide on something. All these skills are important for people to maintain and will help them be successful in the future.
