CONCESSIONS

Dakota Basketball Turkey Tournament

300 Campus Drive

Dakota, IL 21018

Job Description: I worked concessions at Dakota for the girl’s basketball Turkey Tournament. I had to serve and handle money and hand out food in a quick amount of time. For three hours I worked with my teammates pleasing customers by giving them their food as quick as we could. Making sure there was enough stock for each food item was also another one of my jobs.

Skills: A few skills I used while serving customers at concessions was generating ideas and math skills. I had to generate ideas when deciding who would do what job and what way would make us more productive. For example, if someone was better at handling money than making popcorn, they would take people’s money while someone else would make food. Also, I had to use math skills when I didn’t get exact change from a customer. I needed to be able to get them the right amount of change back.

Insight: Working concessions wasn’t bad at all. It may have turned out to be a long day, but in the end I was helping serve my community. It was also fun because I got to spend time with my teammates/friends and create memories. Even though I was doing “work,” I was sharing laughs with friends. Working in the concessions was an easy and fun way to get some hours of my community service!
